Darius Miller’s alley-oop dunk against St. John’s has advanced to the Dunk of the Year finals. Now Michael Kidd-Gilchrist will try to join him with his two-hand slam against Portland.

Kidd-Gilchrist’s dunk on Nov. 26 is nominated for Dunk of the Year in week two of the four-week voting. Two winners from each week will be determined by fan voting through the official Facebook page (facebook.com/DunksOfTheYear). Miller’s dunk has already advanced to the finals.

The eight finalists will compete in a two-week voting competition to determine the Dunk of the Year. The winner will be announced during the “Dunks of the Year” special, which airs March 26 on ESPN2.

Early in the second half, with Kentucky enjoying a 10-point lead, the standout freshman sent the Big Blue Nation into pandemonium.  Following an alley-oop conversion by teammate Anthony Davis, Kidd-Gilchrist stole an attempted inbound pass and threw down a thunderous two-hand dunk in the face of Portland’s Derrick Rodgers, while also drawing a foul on the play.  Kidd-Gilchrist finished the game with 11 points as the Wildcats rolled to a comfortable 87-63 victory.

Kidd-Gilchrist’s slam is competing against five other dunks from week two, including a poster dunk from Campbell’s Eric Griffin, a soaring alley-oop finish from Ohio State’s Sam Thompson, a one-handed monster dunk from Oklahoma State’s Markel Brown, an alley-oop reverse slam from Oregon State’s Jared Cunningham and a soaring jam from Georgia’s Kentavious Caldwell-Pope.
