NASHVILLE, Tenn. — In case you haven’t heard, Saturday’s Kentucky-Vanderbilt game in Nashville, Tenn., is the site of ESPN’s weekly College GameDay.
The GameDay crew, which includes host Rece Davis and analysts Hubert Davis, Jay Bilas and Digger Phelps, will be on site for most of the day at Memorial Gymnasium. The first of two national broadcasts for the popular ESPN show will be at 10 a.m. ET (9 a.m. CT). The first hour will air on ESPNU and the second hour will be carried on ESPN.
Later that night, at 8 p.m. ET, College GameDay will go live again from Memorial Gymnasium and broadcast the hour leading up to the game at 9 p.m. ET. Dan Shulman, Dick Vitale and Erin Andrews will call the game.
For Kentucky fans hoping to attend the morning broadcast at Memorial Gymnasium, here is some information on how you can attend, according to Vanderbilt’s official website:
- The live telecast is free to attend and open to the public with the doors to the gym opening at 7 a.m. CT
- The student section will be reserved for Vanderbilt students
- Non-students are encouraged to enter through the southeast corner of Memorial
- Free parking will be available in the 25th Avenue Garage and the Medical Center flat lots
There has been an “Occupy Memorial” movement on social media, UK blogs and message boards the past few days encouraging Big Blue fans to take over Vanderbilt’s gym and spoil the Commodores’ big day on national television.
While John Calipari doesn’t mind UK fans showing up for the event and showing their school pride, he discouraged fans on Friday from ruining Vanderbilt’s stage.
“If our fans are ruining their day, don’t do it,” Calipari said. “If that’s Vandy’s day, don’t do it. Don’t ruin their day.”
