There are still two weeks to go in Southeastern Conference play. A lot can happen in four games.
But it never hurts to look ahead, and that’s what the SEC did Monday by releasing what the SEC Tournament would look like if the regular season ended today.
Kentucky, at 12-0 in the league, would be the No. 1 overall seed and earn a first-round bye in New Orleans. The Cats would play the winner of the 8-9 matchup of Ole Miss-Arkansas. Florida, Vanderbilt and Mississippi State would earn the other first-round byes.
Keep in mind, the SEC scrapped its traditional East-West divisional setup this season. In the past, two teams from the East and two teams from the West would have been awarded a bye.
UK can clinch at least a share of the SEC regular-season title on Tuesday with a win at Mississippi State or a Florida loss. Kentucky would clinch the outright championship and No. 1 seed in the league tournament with a win AND a Florida loss.
SEC Tournament (if the season ended today)
8 Ole Miss vs. 9 Arkansas – Winner vs. 1 Kentucky
5 LSU vs. 12 South Carolina – Winner vs. 4 Mississippi State
7 Tennessee vs. 10 Auburn – Winner vs. 2 Florida
