Men’s basketball dominates CATSPY Awards

One of the most rewarding moments of winning a college basketball national championship is those three minutes where CBS shows “One Shining Moment,” its video montage of the NCAA Tournament that is capped with the lasting images of the national champions.

This year’s version was no doubt special for the UK players. When the video feed turned on at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans, every player and coach stopped their celebration and turned their attention to the video boards to relish in the moment.

Playing off CBS’ now-iconic video tribute, UK makes its own rendition of “One Shining Moment” at the CATSPY Awards, UK Athletics’ annual awards banquet that recognizes athletic and academic performances during athletic year. The “One Shining Moment” award is given to a team that inspired others through their remarkable resiliency and unparalleled work ethic in achieving an ultimate goal.
