Windsor, Ontario - It was the unofficial, official debut of the 2010-11 Kentucky Wildcats and even if Coach John Calipari won’t admit it – “It’s August! I can’t believe I’m coaching in August!” – there is reason to believe these Cats are destined for big things.

In Sunday night’s 95-62 win over the University of Windsor, the biggest reason for hope may have been UK’s freshman point guard, Brandon Knight who scored 31 points to go along with 7 rebounds and 4 assists and zero turnovers. It was a fast start for Knight. To say the least.

“He’s super fast,” said Windsor coach Chris Oliver. “Super, super fast. In the open court, he’s gone.”

“I’ve had a lot of good point guards,” said Coach Calipari. “I knew he was fast. He did a nice job for us.”

But it wasn’t all Knight and it wasn’t all about the Kiddie Cats on this night. Returnees Darius Miller, Jon Hood, DeAndre Liggins and Josh Harrelson combined for 46 of the team’s remaining 64 points.

“We had some guys that didn’t come out ready, but that’s to be expected,” said Coach Calipari. “It’s August, I can’t even believe I’m coaching in August!”

Coach Cal and the Cats continue their Canada trip on Monday night with a 7 p.m. game against Western Ontario. It will again be broadcast on the Big Blue Sports Network, check local listings for channels.
