UK out of AP Top 25 for first time in Cal era

For the first time in John Calipari’s tenure at Kentucky, the Wildcats are not ranked in the Associated Press Top 25.

Kentucky fell out of the AP Top 25 Monday for the first time since the 2008-09 season. UK plummeted from No. 8 following a road loss to Notre Dame and Saturday’s loss to Baylor at home, which snapped a 55-game home winning streak.

Kentucky did remain just outside the top 25 and is the leading vote-getter in the receiving votes category. The Cats also remained in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches’ Poll at No. 19.

Notre Dame, at No. 22, moved into the AP Top 25 with the win over Kentucky. Baylor is receiving votes.

When Kentucky plays Samford Tuesday night, it will be the first time UK has played a game outside the AP top 10 in 48 games.
