2011-12 University of Kentucky Wildcats Roster
Senior - Maysville, Kentucky
Guard | #1 | 6'8" | 235 lbs
"Darius should epitomize what it means to be a senior this year. He's been in the program for three years, in the Dribble Drive Motion Offense for two and has played with Team USA twice. He's experienced, stronger and talented. I've said before that he is capable of being one of the best players in the SEC, and I think we will see that this season." - Coach Cal
Sophomore - Portland, Oregon
Forward | #3 | 6'9" | 252 lbs
"Terrence set a goal to be a top-10 draft pick and he's put in the work this offseason to get there. Physically, he looks like a different person, but what I like most about Terrence this offseason is that he's embraced a leadership role and has a great mentality for what he's doing. The additions of Anthony Davis and Kyle Wiltjer should free up Terrence a little more in the open space." - Coach Cal
Junior - Madisonville, Kentucky
Guard | #4 | 6'7" | 215 lbs
"Jon's knee injury was unfortunate because we were really counting on him to be a key contributor this season and he's such a great kid. We haven't ruled out Jon for the season, but he can use this year to his benefit to gain some experience, become a year older and come back with a different purpose." - Coach Cal
Sophomore - Nicholasville, Kentucky
Guard | #5 | 6'2" | 185 lbs
"I said a year ago that Jarrod was the most talented walk-on I had ever coached and I still believe that, so much so that he earned a scholarship both seasons. Jarrod is a great teammate, he possesses quickness and he's a hard worker. I feel comfortable putting him in games, and we'll need him this year to shore up our depth." - Coach Cal
Junior - Louisville, Kentucky
Guard | #10 | 6'5" | 205 lbs
"Twany joined our program midway through last year with no guarantees as a walk-on. He's worked hard to earn a scholarship and he could be a key contributor this season at point guard during the second semester. Twany's size and length are a great fit for our offense, and his college experience should pay off when we get into SEC play." - Coach Cal
Sophomore - Marietta, Georgia
Guard | #12 | 6'2" | 175 lbs
"Ryan should be in the best position of any point guard I have ever coached because he's got a year to be tutored without the pressure of having to play. Ryan has major college experience, quickness and an ability to score that you can't teach, but he needs to use this season to take his game to another level physically. If he does that, he should be in a great position when he's eligible next year." - Coach Cal
Freshman - Scituate, Massachusetts
Guard | #13 | 5'11" | 190 lbs
"Sam is a tough kid who will do anything to help out his teammates. He suffered three knee injuries in high school and battled back to make this team as a walk-on. He has a relentless work ethic and wants to make this team better." - Coach Cal
Freshman - Somerdale, New Jersey
Forward | #14 | 6'7" | 232 lbs
"Michael is a flat-out winner. He was the leader on one of the best high school teams in the country, not because he's one of the nation's best scorers but because of his intangibles, intensity and passion. With his athleticism and length, he has the ability to be one of our best defenders. I'm looking for Michael to be the fire of this team." - Coach Cal
Sophomore - Queens, New York
Guard | #20 | 6'4" | 210 lbs
"Doron is our best basketball player. He's not our fastest player; he doesn't jump the highest and I don't think he's going to be our best ball handler. But as far as knowing the game and having a feel, he has it. If he's in great condition and he has a sense of urgency, he will have a great year." - Coach Cal
Freshman - Chicago, Illinois
Forward | #23 | 6'10" | 220 lbs
"Anthony is a tremendous shot blocker with great size and length. He can make 3-pointers, dribble the ball and he can get up and down the court faster than some of our guards because of his long, looping strides. He's a different player than Marcus Camby, but he's physically ahead of where Marcus was to start his freshman season." - Coach Cal
Freshman - Indianapolis, Indiana
Guard | #25 | 6'2" | 189 lbs
"As is the case with all of my point guards, Marquis is a different player than my last four lead guards. He possesses incredible speed and he's a physical finisher. Marquis may be the best pick-and-roll guard we've ever had, so we may use more pick-and-roll sets this year. He also has the ability to be a lockdown defender." - Coach Cal
Senior - Moca, Dominican Republic
Forward | #30 | 6'11" | 244 lbs
"I think the work Eloy put in this summer with the Reach USA trip and the Dominican Republic National Team will pay off this year. The experience of playing against veteran players showed Eloy what he needs to do to take his game to the next level. Eloy is long and highly skilled and we're going to need him to log some major minutes in our frontcourt this season." - Coach Cal
Freshman - Portland, Oregon
Forward | #33 | 6'9" | 239 lbs
"Kyle may be one of the best shooters we've had come through here. He's a highly skilled, versatile big man who can play inside and shoot from the perimeter. If you leave him open, he's going to hit the shot. What really strikes me about Kyle is his work ethic and desire to get better. Kyle has embraced the challenge and wants to play against the best players in the country to get better and compete for a national title." - Coach Cal
Freshman - Dumont, N.J.
Guard | #32 | 5'9" | 150 lbs
"Brian is a great teammate who will add to the team. He is a speedy guard who will give us a different look in practice. I've known Brian his whole and he knows that he's good enough to be here and contribute. It's that type of mentality that will help this team improve." - Coach Cal
