At last, practice has begun.
Starting Sunday, teams across the country could finally begin team skill instruction, including the Kentucky Wildcats. For two hours a week, coaches can get the full team together for practice. Up until this point, they’ve only been allowed to do individual skill instruction in groups of four players. The practice hour allotment moves to the full 20 hours a week starting Sept. 27, several weeks before the traditional mid-October start.
What does the extra practice time mean for the Cats this year? That remains to be seen. But as you can tell in the video above, John Calipari was more than thrilled to take advantage of the opportunity to get his entire team on the court at the same time and start teaching basketball. As he said, “This is what I live for.”
