Coach Calipari is at the kickoff event for the Bill Keightley Classic and we’re with him live blogging from host-facility where it is being held. Newer posts will be at the top of the entry below and you are welcome to submit questions for us at coach@coachcal.com. Coach Cal won’t be able to answer them directly, but we will do our best to provide insight.

Please bear with us, this is a first-time event for CoachCal.com, so there may be some bugs to work out. Thanks, as always.

7:20 p.m. -We’re going to end the live-blogging portion of the evening and thank you for joining us. You can expect more live blogs throughout the season, exclusively for Team Calipari members.

Coach Calipari won’t be golfing tomorrow as he needs to get some stitches removed from a procedure he had done his neck about a week and a half ago. Everything is fine and Coach has healed very well – despite having Frankenstein stitched on his left neck!

7:15 p.m. – Final live bidding auction is for UK at South Carolina with team charter, team hotel, practice and 2 game tickets. Sold for $6,000.

Silent auction bidding is still open for 15 minutes. Things are winding down.

7:10 p.m. – Two people travel with team to Florida – charter, team hotel, practice and 2 game tickets. Went for $7,000.

Assistant coaches present are Rod Strickland and Orlando Antigua. John Robic is spending some quality time with his family in Memphis.

7:05 – Corporate dinner for 25 at Coach Calipari’s house after the season. Coach Cal just bid $6,000 for the chance to dine at his own home.

He has now raised it to $9,000.

The gentleman who won it was also the winner last year. He said he never got to collect on that one! He won this year’s for $9,500. There goes the quiet night Coach thought he was ensuring for himself.

6:57 p.m. – A chance to go with Coach Cal to next year’s NBA draft went for $6,000.

6:50 p.m. -Live auction begins. First up is the Maker’s Mark Special Edition Bill Keightly etched bottle. Bidding begins and goes for $750.

Tom Leach introduces the items and then auctioneer Doug Hampton takes the microphone and works his magic.

Next item was two people travel to the UConn with the Wildcats to NYC – It went for $5,000.

6:43 p.m. – Coach Calipari finished speaking and the live auction has commenced. Coach did tell the assembled group that he will hold his third day of individual workouts tomorrow.

He began his brief remarks by relaying how incredibly kind Bill Keightley was to Coach whenever he saw him or when Coach Cal’s teams faced Kentucky. “He treated me like royalty every time,” he said.

6:40 p.m. – Coach Calipari is now speaking and he just introduced the current student managers for the Wildcats. “They are who all this is about and some of the people who will benefit form this wonderful event,” he said

6:30 p.m. – Guests are streaming into the silent auction room and placing bids on a whole host of items ranging from a Special edition Bill Keightley Maker’s Mark etched bottle to a Rajon Rondo autographed Celtics jersey, to an ESPN Sideline reporter experience (pre-game, in-game anbd post-game) where the high bidder will be able to shadow either Jeanine Edwards or Erin Andrews.
