Just when I think I’ve seen it all, Big Blue Nation knocks me for another loop. On Wednesday night at the Bowling Green Barnes and Noble your dedication and devotion stopped me in my tracks – it also stopped my right hand from functioning properly!

After over two hours of signing (copies of “Bounce Back) and smiling (for pictures), I reached my breaking – or should I say “cramping” – point. I could barely write any more and the blue battle scars of Sharpie pen marks told a telling story. I want to thank all the folks who were at the very end of the line for understanding that I could no longer personalize their books, but I was happy to sign – scrawl – my name.

I knew I needed to bring along a travel and logistics coordinator for the tour, but I had no idea I should have also brought team trainer Chris Simmons with me!

Thanks to everyone who came out for their pateinec and good spirit and to Melissa Rush and her incredible staff at B&N.

Not to be outdone, Owensboro also put my John Hancock skills to the test with a super turnout at that town’s Books-A-Million store.

Then, at lunch with the Owensboro-area alumni group, I was made an honorary Daviess County Judge Executive – despite my objections that I shouldn’t be judging anyone! I’m going to bring the gavel to my office to preside over my staff meetings!

It was really a great day of getting out deeper into Big Blue Nation and seeing firsthand just how deep the blue waters run in this state.

I thank you all from the bottom of my heart and the wrist of my right hand!

In betwen Owensboro and Bowling Green, I was thrilled to be able to sneak in a stop in Russellville for a special gathering which featured the Logan County/Russellville state champion baseball team that advanced to last month’s Little League World Series.

The team gave me an autographed baseball in a addition to a t-shirt with my name on the back! I wanted the boys to know how proud the whole state was of them and that even if their journey didn’t end the way they may have dreamed, the important thing was that they dreamed big dreams and accomplished so many of their goals.

They are a group of special young men and I could feel the pride Russellville has taken from their remarkable season.

I think Kenny Walker – who was in the Bowling Green B&N doing a live remote – may have signed just as many autographs as me. I love seeing Kenny – he’s got such a great personality and is so engaging with the fans. Very genuine and appreciative of BBN.
