And I thought my head hurt after yesterday’s session with Coach Brown?! We went for another four hours or so today, including some on-court time and a lunch that consisted of more basketball talk than actual food! But I ate it ALL up.

I was able to watch two of the Charlotte Bobcats’ practices from their first day of training camp (that’s Gerald Wallace on the left) and let me say this for all the Bobcat fans in Big Blue Nation: they are light years ahead of where they were last year around this time – and that’s without two of their big men, Tyson Chandler and Boris Diaw who are sitting out this early part of camp. I saw the team when they came for a pre-season game in Memphis last year and there is a whole different feel to this team. They have a swagger to them and there is no doubt they are feeding off their strong finish from a season ago.

I’m really excited to see what Coach Brown can do with this team.

I was also again able to watch my former player, Antonio Anderson, work out with the Bobcats. Every time I see him I am reminded of what a great young man he is. I don’t have any qualms saying this: As much as any player I’ve ever coached, he deserves to have a long, pro career. That’s how highly I think of him.

He did so much for our teams at Memphis and every year he sacrificed personal goals and statistics for the betterment of the team. He’s such a great teammate and has always had the right mindset. When you have a player like Antonio you want him to benefit from all the work and dedication they displayed over the years.

There was a moment when Michael Jordan was working out Antonio and I looked on the court and I felt like it was my own son out there. What a tremendous feeling.

Some more recruiting to do on Wednesday and then I’m back for a busy day in Lexington on Thursday. Looking forward to the Alabama game this Saturday as well.

I meant to post this photo last week after our event in Evansville – this is Dr. and Mrs. Moore. What a pleasure it was to be able to share some time with them.:
