John Calipari was presented with the 2011 Hope Award on Saturday night at the seventh annual St. Peter Claver Gala at the Embassy Suites in Lexington.
The presentation was the main feature at the gala, which is the historic black Catholic church’s biggest fundraiser of the year.
“Really honored and humbled to receive the Hope Award tonight at the St. Peter Claver gala,” Calipari said. “Hats off to St. Peter Claver and Father Norman for all they do for the community.”
Proceeds from the event go to the church’s campaign to renovate its building, which was built in 1887.
