Forwards Eloy Vargas and Anthony Davis are pitted against each other again for ”Helmet Dunk of the Week” honors.
Vargas will try to end Davis’ two-week winning streak with a two-hand alley-oop finish over none other than Davis. Meanwhile, Davis will attempt to keep his crown — or should we say helmet? — with a pretty flush in transition. (For another Davis dunk worthy of nomination, check out this slam at the 1:40 mark.)
Fans can vote on the “Helmet Dunk of the Week” in the CoachCal.com interactive poll at the bottom of this post. Davis won last week’s vote by default and beat Vargas in week two’s voting
What exactly is a “Helmet Dunk?”
Initiated by assistant coach John Robic, the Kentucky basketball team traditionally crowns a player with a helmet if he gets dunked on or “posterized” in practice. When practice is over, the player that throws down the dunk gets the honor of putting the helmet on the victim. The player that’s at the other end of the dunk has to keep the helmet in his locker until the next “Helmet Dunk.”
So who is it going to be this week? Who had this week’s “Helmet Dunk of the Week?” (special thanks to UK Sports Video for the practice footage)
