Terrence Jones’ status for Tuesday’s Samford game remains uncertain as he recovers from a dislocated pinky finger on his left hand.
Jones, who injured his finger in the opening minutes of the Chattanooga game and played just 10 minutes, will not practice Monday.
“It’s still swollen and black and blue, but that’s stuff alright,” Coach Cal said Monday. “It will just take time, but he’ll be fine.”
Asked if Jones would play Tuesday, Calipari said he doesn’t know yet.
“We’ll see,” Calipari said. “Don’t expect him to start if he doesn’t practice today, but I don’t know.”
Calipari said the timetable for an injury like Jones depends on the severity of it, but he was being held out of Monday’s practice at the advice of the team doctor.
A picture of Jones’ dislocated finger has been making the rounds on the Internet.
“That picture was nasty,” senior forward Darius Miller said.
Jones, a left hander, was the team’s leading scorer heading into the Indiana game. He’s currently averaging 12.4 points and 6.2 rebounds, but he’s been limited to four points over his last five halves of basketball.
The sophomore forward was tabbed a preseason All-American.
