Here is your guide to ensure you don’t miss any of today’s “Hoops for Haiti” telethon which will air on WKYT beginning at Noon. The special event will also stream live at WKYT.com.

(The chosen fund helps survivors in Haiti as well as those affected by other disasters around the world.

The United Way of the Bluegrass is proud to partner with our local Red Cross Chapter to provide support for immediate relief to the people of Haiti.

United Way Worldwide’s role is to support long-term recovery efforts to rebuild lives and infrastructure devastated by the disaster in Haiti, and to help address educational, financial and health-related challenges.)

1. The telethon will kick off at noon with Coach Calipari being joined by Governor Steve Beshear as the first major donation of the day is announced.

2. There are three ways to donate to Haiti Relief efforts (with donations facilitated by the United Way and distributed by the Red Cross).

* Call into the WKYT donation line at 859.299.5455 or 800-500-1513. Phones will be manned by the UK men’s basketball team and other local volunteers from Noon to 4:30 ONLY.

* At any time, you may Go on-line to the secure Red Cross site and donate to the American Red Cross International Response Fund

* Bid on any of our incredible on-line auction items at eBay. The auctions will all end 72 hours after initial posting. There will be additional auction items throughout the afternoon, so check back often.

3. The 90 minutes of the live, un-interrupted telethon will be followed by regular CBS programming, including college basketball and the NFL playoffs. A ticker will run until 4:30 and there will be live “Hoops for Haiti” updates at halftime of No. 15 UConn at Michigan and before the start of the New York Jets at the San Diego Chargers.
