For the first time in school history, the No. 2 Kentucky Wildcats (13-1) will entertain Arkansas-Little Rock in its annual Freedom Hall contest. UALR, out of the Sun Belt Conference, comes into the game with a 5-10 record and fresh off a win over Denver.
Darius Miller – Over his last three games, Miller has made 5-of-12 3-point shots (41.7 percent) … Since his five-assist, zero-turnover game vs. Samford three games ago, Miller has recorded five assists and 13 turnovers … His seven points against Louisville broke a string of four straight double-figure scoring games … Miller is five points away from joining UK’s 1,000-point club, and 72 rebounds away from 500. Only seven Wildcats, since the 1951-52 season have accomplished that feat.
Terrence Jones – Since he dislocated his pinky against Chattanooga, Jones has only made five field goals … His 11 rebounds vs. U of L was his first double-digit rebounding effort of the season … In the four games prior to U of L, Jones recorded three steals, then matched that with three steals in the Louisville game … Jones is averaging 3.8 points per game over his last four games.
Michael Kidd-Gilchrist – MKG is the reigning SEC Player of the Week after his 24-point, 19-rebound game vs. the Cards … He is the first UK player since Scott Padgett in 1998 (vs. Maryland) to post 20-plus points and 10-plus rebounds against a top-five opponent … The U of L game represented the second double-double for MKG on the year … He has scored in double figures in 12-of-14 games … In his last five games, MKG is 4 of 10 from beyond the arc (40.0 percent) … His 16 shot attempts vs. Louisville were a season high … His six offensive rebounds vs. the Cards were also a season high … Over the last three games, MKG has made 23-of-32 free throws (71.9 percent) … MKG has nine assists and three turnovers the last three games … He has recorded only one steal in the last four games after having 16 steals through the first 10 contests … He has scored in double figures in 12-of-14 games.
Doron Lamb – He has made only 1-of-8 trey tries over the last three games (12.5 percent) … Since making 7-of-11 free throws vs. Indiana, Lamb has connected on 22-of-25 charity-stripe shots (88.0 percent) … Through UK’s first 11 games, Lamb averaged 4.2 rebounds per game; over the last three games he’s averaging 1.0 boards … Lamb has six assists and five turnovers in the last three contests … Lamb had seven steals through the first nine games, but only one steal in the last four contests.
Anthony Davis – Since making only 3-of-7 field goals against Samford, in the last three games Davis has made 13-of-23 shots (56.5 percent) … Coming into the Louisville game, Davis had connected on 58.7 percent of his free throws; against U of L he made 12 of 13 from the charity stripe (92.3 percent) … Davis has recorded a double-double in three straight games and four of his last five … Over the last five games, the big fella is averaging 13.0 points and 12.2 rebounds per game … The reigning SEC Freshman of the Week has 12 blocks in the last two games and 64 on the year … If UK plays 35 games this season, on his current pace, Davis will swat 161 shots, which would rank in fifth place on the UK CAREER block list.
Marquis Teague – Over the last four games, Teague has 17 assists and 18 turnovers … He had 18 steals through UK’s first 11 games, but only one steal in the last three contests … Teague has connected on only 3 of 18 from beyond the arc over the last seven games (16.7 percent) … He has made 13-of-15 free throws over the last three games (86.7 percent) … Teague’s four points against U of L was a season low.
Eloy Vargas – In his last 32 minutes of action, covering four games, Vargas has put up the following numbers: 2-of-7 field-goal shooting, four points, nine rebounds, one turnover, one steal and four fouls.
Kyle Wiltjer – Over the last five games, Wiltjer is averaging 19.2 minutes per game … In that time, he is 15 of 32 from the field (46.9 percent), 8 of 21 from long-range (38.1 percent), 11 of 12 from the free-throw line (91.7 percent), and has 14 rebounds while averaging 9.8 points per game.
Team – UK is 61-19 in the first game of the New Year since the beginning of the Adolph Rupp era (1930-31 season) … UK’s 69 points against U of L is the second-lowest point total of the season (62 vs. Old Dominion) … Kentucky has not had a double-digit steal game in the last five contests … The Cats have blocked 83 more shots than their opponents … The 21 turnovers and 23 fouls against Louisville represent season highs for the Cats … Since making a combined 20-of-38 free throws against Indiana and Chattanooga (52.6 percent), UK has connected on 98-of-127 free throws (77.2 percent) … The Cats have made 22-of-63 trey attempts over the last four games (34.9 percent).
