Coach Cal to enter New England Basketball Hall of Fame

Coach Cal, a former head coach at Massachusetts, is one of a number of New England basketball figures that will be inducted into the New England Basketball Hall of Fame on Saturday in Worcester, Mass. The New England Basketball Hall of Fame recognizes people whose excellence has contributed to the rich legacy of New England basketball.

Antigua named Calipari’s successor of Dominican Republic national team

Orlando Antigua, assistant coach at the University of Kentucky and an assistant on the Dominican Republic national team for the last two seasons, will take over the reins from Calipari and lead the Caribbean nation as its next head coach. Antigua was officially announced as the new head coach Thursday morning.

Former Coach Cal stars Cousins, Davis and Wall to attend USA mini-camp

Former UK men’s basketball All-Americans DeMarcus Cousins, Anthony Davis and John Wall are among 27 players who have accepted invitations to attend the 2013 USA Basketball Men’s National Team mini-camp that will be held July 22-25 in Las Vegas, USA Basketball Chairman Jerry Colangelo announced Wednesday.

UK meets and exceeds NCAA APR standards yet again

Calipari’s team once again met and exceeded the standards of the APR, which measures academic eligibility and retention of student-athletes. UK posted a four-year composite score of 963, well above the NCAA minimum of 930 needed to maintain postseason eligibility.

Wiltjer leads Canada past Team USA

Wiltjer sunk two free throws with less than a second left on the clock to secure the Canadian men’s developmental national team’s 75-73 victory over the U.S., according to a Canadian Press report. Wiltjer led Team Canada with 17 points and was 5 for 5 from the free-throw line.
