Players-first approach adds memorable chapter to UK lore

Coach Cal’s players-first mantra has been parsed and criticized from all angles, but he hasn’t relented since the moment he became coach. He maintained all along that, with a focus on helping them achieve their dreams, the players would drag everyone involved with the program where they wanted to be. It’s hard to argue with him now.

Not only has the national media all but penciled in “Kentucky” on the title trophy, but they are also cheered on by a fan base thirsty for a ring on the heels of a 14-year title drought that is long only by UK standards.
