I went through depression for a couple years and through my God, my doctor, and myself I came out of it. I write music and I could not write much of anything while going through the depression but I realize that I had won the battle after I worte this song:
“HOPE”
Hope is not a toss of chance, But what the heart does long,
Hope is not an empty dance, It is the soul of song.
So as we dream and sing and dance,
Climb life’s slippery slope,
Perhaps we’ll stop and perchance,
We’ll see our need for hope.
No truth can stay away forever, it must someday return,
The storm of truth, must be weathered, must be felt and learned.
With hope our fingers turn the page,
Of the book of life we read,
With hope our hearts do engage,
And take the risks we need,
Why are we here if not to build a better life for all,
Hope will fuel the fire of will,
And tag our problems solved.
Hope my friend where have you been,
You’ve seemed lost forever,
The words “I can” became, “I can’t”,
“I will” became “I’ll never”.
Hope my friend, I long for you, Return to me this day,
Help me look into myself, and help me find my way.
For when He calls me back to home,
And ask me what I’ve done,
I hope to tell Him how I hoped, and hoped
and hoped and hoped, until I won!
