• Before we get into a discussion about tonight's opponent, let me first take this opportunity to get a bit familial on y'all. For the first - and likely only - time in my family's history, one of the schools my three sisters attended and facing a school I have a vested interest in.

My sister, Lisa, was a Hawk back in the day and even had a cameo as a Hawkette (cheerleader). 

(The other two Scott siblings went to Colby College and Westfield State and I don't see the Mules or Owls popping up on the UK schedule anytime soon.)

To commemorate this special event in Scott Family History, we have come up with a friendly wager (no money will exchange hands and it is purely for entertainment purposes).

If the Hawks are able to do any of the following, our first beach dinner this summer will be prepared by me. If the Hawks fail do reach any of these milestones, Sister Lisa will prepare our inaugural summer feast. Either way, we eat!

1. Hawks hold UK under 80 points total.

2. Hawks hold John Wall under 10 points or 3 assists.

3. Hawks hold DeMarcus Cousins under 8 points or 8 rebounds.

4. Hawks lead at halftime.

Seems fair enough, right?

SCOTT SCOUT:

• Don't let the nine losses by Hartford deceive you. The Hawks, coached by Dan Leibovitz, lost by just two points at the buzzer at Baylor in November and are consistently competitive in the always-tough America East conference.

• Leibovitz, like Calipari, has strong Atlantic 10 conference roots. Leibovitz worked with John Chaney at Temple in the mid 1990s; Calipari was at the helm of UMass in the decade before Leibovitz started with the Owls.

The ties don't stop there. Chris Gerlufsen, an assistant to Leibovitz, is the son of the man - Ron Gerlufsen - from whom Coach Cal took over the UMass program. Another assistant, Rick Brunson, was a player for Temple and Coach Cal and Coach John Robic saw their teams play against Brunson, who is from Massachusetts. Director of Basketball Operations, Jason Ivey, was also an opponent for Cal's UMass teams.

• Other interesting Dave Scott trivia about the school the locals cal "U - HAH":

. . . Aunt Esta, Uncle Steve and cousins David, Lauren and Billy lived less than a mile from the pristine private university west of Hartford, Connecticut.

. . . Long-time friend Tyler was once a tennis coach for the Division 1 Hawks.
