Always an emotional day, today's Senior Day game between UK and Florida will have extra intensity as the Gators are fighting for an NCAA bid. That was Coach Calipari's message to the Cats at this morning's shootaround.

"They're willing to do anything to win this game," he said to the team. "You have to bring that same mindset."

With the outright SEC championship clinched via Vanderbilt's Saturday loss, the Cats are playing to protect their season's perfect homecourt record and, of course, to send the departing players off on a winning not.

• The Committee of 101 has a banner hanging on the upper level for today's game wishing the "Best of Luck in Your Future" to the the three seniors and Patrick Patterson.

• Scott Padgett hit the traditional halfcourt shot to end shootaround. Padgett was filling in for injured assistant Coach Orlando Antigua and there is some discussion of whether the made shot should go on the Antigua ledger or on Padgett's?

• Today's officials will be, Guess who? Mike Stuart (!!!), Anthony Jordan and Mike Eades. Of UK's 30 games, it feels like Stuart has been on the call 35 of them!!!

Perfection in the non-conference. Perfection at home. Is perfection in the post-season too much to ask?

“I am just glad that it is over," said Coach Calipari. "I just wanted it to end. I told them that we are playing for that other tournament. That is why we play. I have never coached a team that worried about a conference championship or a tournament championship. Every team that I have coached is worried about postseason and where we are going to get seeded. What happens is that instead of playing for that championship, you are playing for something bigger. I am not sure that we are quite there yet, but we have done everything that we were supposed to up to this point. We are playing for a one seed.”

UK finished up a perfect 18-0 season at Rupp with a 74-66 win over Florida on Senior Day 2010. It is UK’s ninth undefeated home record in the 34-year history of Rupp Arena and the first undefeated home season since the 1999-2000 squad went 14-0.

It also ties the 1985-86 team, which also went 18-0, for best home record in a season. Both the UK’s men’s and women’s teams went undefeated at home this season, joining the 1980-81 campaign as the only times in school history that feat has been accomplished in the same season.
