For the sixth time in his career and the third time in his tenure at Kentucky, John Calipari’s team is ranked No. 1. Edging out Michigan State and Louisville for the top spot, Coach Cal’s Wildcats will start the 2013-14 season atop the Associated Press Top 25.
It’s been a long road back by Kentucky standards, but the Wildcats are finally back in the Associated Press Top 25. UK, which is riding a five-game winning streak, cracked the poll at No. 25 this week with 87 votes. It’s the first time the Cats have been in the AP Top 25 since losing back-to-back games to Notre Dame and Baylor in late November/early December.
It’s been awhile since Kentucky has been in the conversation of the national rankings, and though UK isn’t back in either of the major top-25 polls, the Cats are receiving votes for the first time in a month.
