Saturday’s box score shows Ryan Harrow had a pretty decent game. In 26 minutes, he scored 12 points and committed zero turnovers in 26 minutes of play. But stats don’t always tell the story. While Harrow has been posting double-digit scoring efforts for the Cats, he’s been the focus of John Calipari’s attention the last couple of weeks for his inconsistency.
Earlier in the week, John Calipari described his team as soft. When push came to shove Saturday – and there was plenty of pushing, grabbing and holding –the Cats toughened up just enough to keep their five-game winning streak alive and stay within a game of Florida heading into Tuesday’s must-see matchup in Gainesville, Fla.

John Calipari wears many hats these days. His latest approach: life skills. Through books and talks with sports psychologist Bob Rotella and author Ken Blanchard, Coach Cal is soaking up life lessons and teaching them to his team. There’s time for basketball when his players get on the court for practice and games, but when it comes to breaking down film and scouting for the next opponent, Calipari has left that up to his staff.
Kentucky turns to the second half of its Southeastern Conference schedule with a rematch against Auburn on Saturday afternoon at Rupp Arena. John Calipari and Julius Mays were available to talk about the upcoming game and more.
The No. 10/11 Cats (8-2) responded with arguably its best win of the season Tuesday night, a 70-55 victory over the previously undefeated Broncos (8-1).
